Alter Accounting is led by Jeremy Qualls, CPA, EA, a licensed Certified Public Accountant and IRS Enrolled Agent who works directly with every client. The person who scopes your engagement is the person who does the work, and signs the return.
He came to accounting by way of the trades. A Florida native, Infantry Marine, and journeyman electrician, he pulled wire and ran work before he ever touched a tax return. That time on the tools means he understands a job site, a bid, and a change order from the inside, not just from a spreadsheet, and he has lived the same field-versus-office gap his clients deal with every day. It's a perspective most accountants simply don't have, and it shapes how every engagement here is run: the reporting ties to the jobsite, so the numbers mean something to the people actually running the work, not just to the IRS.

The firm also serves contractors and builders across the Southeast: North Carolina, Tennessee, Georgia, South Carolina, and Florida.
Jeremy Qualls is licensed as a Certified Public Accountant in Florida, Florida CPA License No. AC63703, and serves clients in other states, including North Carolina, Tennessee, Georgia, South Carolina, under CPA practice mobility. Alter Accounting CPA LLC is on file with the North Carolina State Board of CPA Examiners as an out-of-state CPA firm notification.
The firm currently has no non-licensed professional staff. Every professional service the firm provides is performed by, or under the direct supervision of, the licensed CPA named above. Non-licensed employees, if any are added, cannot render professional services except under the supervision of a licensed CPA, and they will be listed separately here with their job titles.
